Figure Friday: Mythic Legions Wal-torr The Mad

Just in time for Figure Friday, the Fed-Ex gods graced me with a package that I’ve been anxiously tracking for over a week! Wal-torr The Mad has arrived thanks to the recent In-Stock Sale at StoreHorsemen.com. I’m a sucker for a good skeleton and Wal-torr gets not only the Mythic but the Cosmic treatment as well. Let’s take a look at the King of the Cabal, Wal-torr The Mad!

Across the entire Realm, a call goes out to gather like-minded warriors under a single banner – a Cabal! Leading this group in a tireless quest to assemble the Legionnaires is the one they call Wal-torr the Mad. Once a humble gardener, Wal-torr found new purpose in his fight to unite the Realm. Nothing would stand in his way, and not even death could prevent him from moving forward with his mission. When the cold grip of the grave finally came for Wal-torr, he shrugged it off and rose from where he had been laid. As long as he had a semblance of life in his bones, Wal-torr would walk the Realm waving his Cabal banner and gathering more warriors by his side…

But Wal-torr’s story does not end there, for there are worlds beyond what we have thus far known. A new Universe was discovered, and so the call of the Cabal went out across time and space. Now Wal-torr pilots his starship across the Rings of Cosmerrium, an undead ambassador with an army at his call, each member of this force united in their anthem – CABAL ABOVE ALL!

Wal-torr is a tribute to Walter “the Madman” Hagan of the Mythic Legions Cabal, the official fan community on Facebook. I was fortunate enough to meet Walter at Power Con last year. Nice guy. Gave me a shirt. These tribute figures were originally offered as an exclusive two-pack at Legions Con last year. The single carded figures are the same as the exclusive with the exception of an additional head for the Cosmic Wal-torr and a Cabal tee shirt for the Legions Wal-torr.

Mythic Wal-torr comes with a Cabal logo banner and pole, drinking gourd with Cabal logo, kopesh sword, long bow, arrow, quiver, dagger and sheath, hip bag, and a soft goods fur cloak. He gets two skeleton heads, one of which features an articulated jaw. The soft goods fur cloak is really nicely done with a bit of paint added to provide some contrast and texture. The pole that the banner is on is very tall. Should the need arise, I’m sure it could be used in a pole-vaulting competition or to poke a cyclops in the eye. I always love the bow and arrows that come with the Mythics, but I’ve still yet to figure out a good way to display them in a decent action pose. If anyone out there has any suggestions, shoot them my way.

Cosmic Wal-torr comes with a rifle, blaster pistol, shield with Cosmic Cabal logo, hologram of Cosmerrium, and three sets of hands. The King of the Cosmic Cabal has a skeleton head with an articulated jaw as well as a T.U.5.C.C. helmet head. I love the look of the bubble helmet on the space suit with the skeleton head beneath. It reminds me of the Vashta Nerada from Doctor Who. The space suit designs on the Cosmic figures have been great so far. It’s rather fitting that a tribute figure for the leader of the Mythics fan community is an army builder. With the single carded release, I imagine there’s a few folks in the Cabal that assembled themselves impressive squadrons of orange suited Wal-torr’s.

I’m gonna be real with you. I’ve got a problem. I can’t stop buying these damn skeletons that the Horsemen put out. I have more than enough, but I can’t resist them. Their little articulated jaws call to me at night. These little Wal-torrs might be Mad but they’re here for a good time! CABAL ABOVE ALL!
