It’s the calm before next week’s Star Wars storm, and thought there’s one new release hitting theaters this weekend, it’s doubtful that it will have a huge impact. Here’s our prediction:
In the Heart Of the Sea is the Ron Howard-directed, Chris Hemsworth-staring interpretation of the true life events that sin pried Herbert Melville to craft Moby Dick. Reviews have been so-so so far, and I’m not convinced that Hemsworth can open a film outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Look for a first place showing with $18 million.
As for the rest of the top five, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will hit second place with $12 million. The Good Dinosaur will be in third place with $11.5 million, with Creed right behind it in fourth place with $11 million. Krampus should close things out in fifth with $9 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) In the Heart of the Sea – $18 million
2) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 – $12 million
3) The Good Dinosur – $11.5 million
4) Creed – $11 million
5) Krampus – $9 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
