It was indeed a fairly lacklustre weekend at the box office, as predicted, so let’s get right into it. Here’s what went down:
As for the rest of the top five, War Room actually managed to grab second place, bringing in an estimated $11 million. There’s nothing impressive about the number, except that the religious crowd it was appealing to did come out, though not in big numbers. Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation continued its solid run, landing in third place with $8.3 million, raising its total to $170.4 million. No Escape had a horrible debut, landing in fourth with just $8.29 million (it may switch spots with Mission: Impossible come Monday). Finally, Sinister 2 closed things out in fifth with $4.65 million.
So, to recap, here were our predictions:
1) Straight Outta Compton – $18 million
2) Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation – $9 million
3) The Man From U.N.C.L.E. – $7 million
4) Sinister 2 – $6.5 million
5) No Escape – $6 million
And here’s how the weekend turned out:
1) Straight Outta Compton – $13.2 million
2) War Room – $11 million
3)Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation – $8.3 million
4)No Escape – $8.29 million
5) Sinister 2– $4.65 million
Next weekend sees the release of The Transporter Refuelled. Be sure to check back on Friday to see our predictions!
