Those were some big books that require some degree of heavy lifting. But they’re not the only ones that would make fantastic gifts this year!
Follow me after the jump and I’ll detail a few more awesome tomes released earlier this year that any comic book, comic book historian or comic book art lover – would absolutely love to have their hands on!
The Jack Kirby New Gods: Artist’s Edition HC, published by IDW is one of the latest releases in a beautiful series of books. The Artist Edition of books basically reprints from the originally drawn material (as often as possible), important works by important artists. And there’s no one more important to the development of the comic book superheroes you know and love than Jack Kirby.
The Jack Kirby New Gods Artists Edition is IDW’s first publication of DC Comics material in this format. It collects issues 2,5,6,7, and 8 of the series that Kirby created after leaving Marvel Comics in glorious full-size! That means you get to see the man’s art, his pencils, his lines and his in-margin notations, in 12” x 17” size. It’s a beautiful book and perfect for any lover of comic book or pop culture art!
You might be able to find a copy at your local comic book store or you can hit the IDW online shop and still find the book for $125 here. Pricey, but so worth it!
