The Other Woman Rules – Biff Bam Pop’s Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Report

When I’m wrong, I’m wrong, and this weekend I underestimated the performance of one new release. Here’s what went down.

The Other Woman, staring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton managed to unseat Captain America: The Winter Soldier from the top of the box office, bringing in a stellar $24 million in its opening weekend. Clearly, audiences were looking for an adult comedy, and this one delivered. The film certainly won’t hold the same spot next weekend, but for this one, its certainly got bragging rights.

As for the rest of the top five, Captain America: The Winter Soldier dropped to place with $15.5 million, raising its four week total to $224 million. Heaven is for Real grabbed third place with $14 million, with Rio 2 right behind it in fourth with $13 million. Brick Mansions closed out the top five, debuting with $10 million

So, to recap, here were our predictions:

1) Captain America: The Winter Soldier – $19 million
2) Rio 2 – $15 million
3) Heaven is for Real – $14.5 million
4) The Other Woman – $13.5 million
5) Brick Mansions – $10 million

And here’s how the weekend turned out:

1) The Other Woman – $24 million
2) Captain America: The Winter Soldier – $15.5 million
3) Heaven is for Real – $14 million
4) Rio 2– $13 million
5) Brick Mansions – $10 million
