It should be an interesting weekend at the box office, as director Bryan Singer’s first film in some time takes on what could be a franchise player. Here are our predictions.
We’ve been hearing about Jack The Giant Slayer for years now; it’s Bryan Singer’s take on the Jack And The Beanstalk story and stars Nicholas Hought as Jack and Ewan McGregor as a king’s guard who helps Jack fight off a race of giants. A family film leading into March should do well, and there’s been a growing buzz around Jack The Giant Slayer the last few weeks. It’s been a while since Bryan Singer had a hit, mind you, and he’s not a household name (neither is Nicholas Hoult, but he could be on his way). As it stands, the film’s success will have to rely more on word of mouth and families eager for some fun fare. On that note, expect a first place showing with $25 million.

Also out this weekend is 21 And Over, an R-rated comedy that’s looking for the same crowed that made Project X and The Hangover a hit. With a no-name cast, I doubt they’ll find it. Expect a debut outside the top five.
As for the rest of the top five proper, Identity Thief will fall to third place with $11 million, Snitch will hit fourth place with $9.5 million while Escape From Planet Earth will close things out with $8 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Jack The Giant Slayer – $25 million
2) The Last Exorcism Part II – $20 million
3) Identity Thief – $11 million
4) Snitch – $9.5 million
5) Escape From Planet Earth – $8 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
