I have to say, I’m partial to a good heist film. Who isn’t?

Many offerings in the “heist” genre are all-time classic films, beloved by many – fans and critics alike. I’m talking about Heat (1995), the Ocean’s 11 (2001) series of movies, the remake of The Italian Job (2003), the original Point Break (1991) and even the heist/crime/superhero crossover with The Dark Knight (2008).

Still, all of those films are stories featuring male-led characters. Add a female and incorporate a little romance, and you get a story that is altogether different. Now it’s something that makes you wryly smile and turns the colour of your cheeks flush – all while still giving you the adrenaline surge we’ve come to love.

That’s why 1999s The Thomas Crown Affair, directed by action-auteur John McTiernan and starring the gorgeous duo of Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, whose insane chemistry together is absolutely compelling.

That film remains on the list of my all-time favourite films. I’ve got it on DVD and still throw it into the player (even through I’s available via streaming – an entirely different collector’s OCD topic) and watch it with my wife, who also loves the flick, on a Saturday night.

It has all the ingredients for unparalleled enjoyment: Thieving. A multi-millionaire lifestyle. Blue collar detective work. Art. Love and lust and redemption. And, importantly, Nina Simone’s recording of Sinnerman.

The Thomas Crown Affair. What a delight!

Now, put all those ingredients into a comic book – and you get a wonderful reading experience like today’s All The Things We Didn’t Do Last Night.

Written and illustrated by Spanish creator, Maria Llovet (Crave, Faithless, Violent Flowers, Luna, Porcelain) All The Things We Didn’t Do Last Night is a one-shot compilation of a story that was originally published as a three=part tale in last year’s oversized Image 30th Anniversary Anthology, via Image Comics, of course. It’s the story of art historian and secretive jewelry thief Mamon who- serendipitously meets the handsome Damon, who himself is a covert hitman going through a life crisis. Promising to go on a date, fate steps in first and shows them each other’s crime. Cue the fireworks of love and danger!

All The Things We Didn’t Do Last Night is an instant classic heist story full of all the right ingredients that make for an enthralling and memorable tale.
