Two classic pop culture icons are entering the box office fray this weekend, and while one is guaranteed to hit the top, it should be very interesting to see how the other performs. Here are our predictions:
Also opening this weekend to the my excitement, along with my daughter’s, is The Peanuts Movie, a 3D, computer generated romp through the world Charles Schulz created more than 50 years ago. It’s been decades since Charlie Brown, Snoopy and company had a big screen adventure, and the film should find an eager audience. Reviews have suggested that The Peanuts Movie might be a little slow compared to other animated kids films, so it will certainly be interesting to see how the weekend plays out. Look for a second place showing with $42 million.
As for the rest of the top five, The Martian will drop third place with $9 million. Goosebumps will land in fourth place with $6 million, while Bridge of Spies will close things out in fifth place with $5.5 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Spectre – $76 million
2) The Peanuts Movie – $42 million
3) The Martian – $9 million
4) Goosebumps – $6 million
5) Bridge of Spies – $5.5 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
