Hercules vs Lucy – Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

To of the biggest names in Hollywood are gunning for the top spot at the box office this weekend, but as we know, only one will come out on top. Who will it be? Here’s our prediction:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is arguably the biggest male action star in the world today, and this weekend he takes on the role of the legendary Hercules in the movie of the same title. The Rock knows how to engage his audience via social media, and he’s been hyping this film for months now. The problem is, historical/mythical characters just haven’t been big bucks in the action genre lately, and I think that could have a detrimental effect on Hercules this weekend. I’m going to predict Hercules will come out on top with $35 million.

Unless, that is, Scarlett Johansson’s Lucy manages to win big this weekend. An original science fiction film directed by Luc Besson, there’s definitely lots of anticipation for the movie, especially considering how popular Johansson has become in light of her role as Black Widow. This will make it a tight race this weekend between her and The Rock, but look for Lucy to settle for second place with $32 million.

As for the rest of the top five, look for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to settle for third place with $20 million. Planes: Fire and Rescue will hit fourth with $12 million, while The Purge: Anarchy will close things out in fifth place with $10 million.
