Dinner snakes and boob planters and you have yourself a home away from home… or not. Beth is a survivor. She knows it, and now, so does Daryl. Our apocalypse stud muffin opened up on last week’s episode and we learned his secret. Joan Osborne says it best, “Just a slob like one of us… just a stranger on a bus… trying to make his way home.” And that, my little zombie snacks, is why we love Daryl so much. But, I’m worried about the other members of the team. What’s worse than fighting zombies? Find out after the jump.
Fog Walkers
I don’t know about you, but I hate fog. Hate driving in it. It’s outright dangerous especially when you’re trying to fight off the horde and you can’t see them until they are right there on top of you. Luckily for us, Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) escape the fog walkers, but later disagree about where to go next.
I didn’t get why Sasha was so reluctant to go to Terminus, but maybe it was the bad taste left by her experience with the town of Woodbury. Maggie is the first one to leave Bob and Sasha. She knows her husband is a survivor, so Maggie heads for Terminus with the hopes of finding Glenn. Then Bob leaves Sasha, but not before kissing her. For Bob, the clock is ticking and he doesn’t want to give up hope. Poor Sasha is all alone. Didn’t these three ever watch horror movies? You never separate from your group, ever. That’s when the monsters come for you.
Pig’s Feet
Daryl is teaching Beth how to track and hunt, but she’s injured by an animal trap. They find their way to a mortuary, and luckily, the only dead things at this morgue are the kind that won’t come back to snack on you. While Beth plays the piano, Daryl takes a nap inside a coffin and enjoys a jar of pigs’ feet. Yummy! The writers on this show, rock! I was surprised to see the apocalyptic one-eyed dog at the mortuary door. You don’t expect too many animals to survive the walkers, but some do. Although this dog has one eye and it’s limping, I think I’ll call this dog, Lucky.
Daryl is falling for Beth. Oh yes he is, and it’s because Beth is making him believe that there are still some good people left in the world. Someone is keeping the mortuary clean and stocked with food, but who? I think Daryl was about to say something sweet to Beth, but… walkers attack, and Beth goes missing.
Conclusion
This episode was all about individual coping and eternal hope. Maggie, Bob and Sasha had to make a choice; strike out on their own or stick together. Bob Stookey knows, first hand, how bad it is to be alone and he doesn’t want to go through it again. Daryl had to learn how to trust people, which you’d expect to be near impossible between his childhood and the apocalypse, but… Beth’s Pollyanna views were rubbing off on our little stud muffin and he was ready to take that first step with Beth. That is until the horde arrived.
Did Beth drive away or was she taken? I don’t think Beth would leave Daryl to fight the walkers on his own. She would have waited for him. So my guess is that she was taken against her will. Daryl meets the biker gang from hell and I don’t think he’ll be able to sneak away from this motley crew. Maggie, Bob and Sasha make the choice to stick together, and Glenn has found the sign for Terminus.
