As predicted, the latest Pixar flick had a huge weekend at the box office, claiming the top spot with ease. But how did the rest of the new releases fair? Find out after the jump.
Debuting in third place with $16.5 million is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. While it’s not a great number by any stretch, it could have been much worse for the film. The fanboy audience who I thought would ignore the film have actually been checking it out, and giving it decent notices. The film won’t likely make back its $60 million + budget in North America, but could find new life on DVD when it is released in a few months. As well, it will be interesting to see how it holds up next weekend.
The final debut of the weekend, Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World debut at number ten with an anemic $3.8 million. It could find an audience over the next few weeks though, seeing as it has received strong reviews. Regardless, not a good showing for a film staring Steve Carrell, regardless of how small it is.
As for the rest of the top five, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted dropped to second place, bringing in $20 million. Prometheus was number four with $10 million, while Rock of Ages closed things out with $8 million.
So, to recap, here were our predictions:
1) Brave – $64 million
2) Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted – $20 million
3) Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter – $15 million
4) Prometheus – $10 million

And here’s how the weekend turned out:
