Gilbert Speaks on “Bloodline Killer”

Bloodline Killer is like a cool recipe pulled together with a cup of Friday the 13th and a heavy sprinkling of Halloween…kind of vibes. But was this recipe satisfying?

Bloodline Killer

Bloodline Killer is a horror thriller that was written and produced by twins Anthony and James Gaudioso, who also starred in the film. Directed by Ante Novakovic, the film stars Bruce Dern, Tyrese Gibson, Shawnee Smith and Taryn Manning. The original name of the film was The Skulleton. The story begins on a quiet street where children dressed in their Halloween costumes are knocking on doors for their candy.

Moira Cole (Shawnee Smith), who is trying to rebuild her life after her family was murdered when she was a young girl, now has to face a new threat after her husband is murdered and one of her sons is severely injured while giving out candy during Halloween. We know from the start who the killer is. It’s Moira’s deranged cousin (Adam Shippey), but how did he find her, and why does he keep attacking her family?

Conclusion

Although I usually avoid slasher films, I have to say that Bloodline Killer was good. Moira seeks the aid of a therapist (Bruce Dern) in order to remember what happened in her past and what caused her cousin to go on a killing spree. The homicide detectives (Tyrese Gibson) and (Kresh Novakovic) try to protect Moira and her sons Michael (Drew Moerlein) and Connor (James Gaudioso).

Why is Moira’s cousin dressing as Skulleton? What happened in the past that caused Moira’s family to be wiped out? Is Moira responsible for her cousin’s killing spree? Good questions, but I feel that we could have had more backstory on Moira’s past, especially since her cousin was involved. This was my main complaint; the motive for the spree killing needed to be fleshed out, and to do that, we have to know more about Moira’s parents. Aside from that complaint, I am sure that you will enjoy Bloodline Killer if you’re in the mood for a fun slasher film.
