In this week’s instalment of What’s Going On, I’ve scoured the globe (and maybe TikTok) for the freshest drops, hottest bops, and weirdest little earworms the internet has to offer. Grab your headphones, fire up the streaming platform of your choice, and let’s dive in. As always, if you dig what you hear, be sure to stream and follow these artists.

TyriqueOrDie – Rising Toronto electronic artist TyriqueOrDie is getting introspective on his new single “Ur Not Invited,” out now via Universal Music Canada. Produced by Okay Synthesizer founder Rafael Khan, the house-driven track finds Ty at his most vulnerable yet, reflecting on heartbreak while still radiating his trademark Gemini duality. Crying on the dance floor is a very real phenomenon, and “Ur Not Invited” will get you there. Following his viral bradeazy collab “Up Down,” which topped Beatport’s Bass House charts, “Ur Not Invited” cements TyriqueOrDie’s place as one of Toronto’s most exciting young acts in the dance space.

BIG SPECIAL – Fresh off their surprise sophomore album NATIONAL AVERAGE., Walsall duo BIG SPECIAL return with “PLAINTIVE NATIVE,” a thumping, politically charged anthem that channels despair into defiance. Out now via SO Recordings, the track lands midway through their European tour ahead of their North American return this December. With their blend of grit, poetry, and social conscience, the duo consisting of Joe Hicklin and Callum Moloney continues to prove themselves as one of the UK’s most vital new voices. Catch BIG SPECIAL supporting Public Service Broadcasting in Toronto at The Concert Hall on December 11th. Tickets available here.

New Constellations – Get into Portland duo New Constellations. The ethereal project of lifelong friends Harlee Case and Josh Smith just dropped “Believe Again,” their luminous first single since signing with Nettwerk. Blending shimmering guitars, dreamy vocals, and emotional depth, the track captures the quiet magic of rediscovering self-belief after doubt. We can dig that! Following 26 sold-out U.S. dates, the release marks a radiant new chapter ahead of their much-anticipated 2026 debut album.

Men Without Hats – Canadian new wave pioneers Men Without Hats are back with On the Moon, their first album in years, arriving November 14th via Sonic Envy. The new single “In Glorious Days” is co-written by Men Without Hats’ brainchild Ivan Doroschuk and Grammy-winning producer Brian Howes. The track fuses the band’s classic new wave sound with sleek modern synthwave. Following the viral success of “I ❤️ The 80s,” the Canadian icons will bring their signature energy to Toronto’s Mod Club on November 20. Tickets are available here.

Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers – You know we love Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers here. The ARIA Award-winning rockers turn up the heat with their ferocious new single “BAIT,” from their forthcoming album GLORY (out November 7th via Mom + Pop). Coated in swagger and satire, the track skewers the ego-driven “music industry man” with their signature biting wit, cowbell, and crunching bass. Produced by Catherine Marks, “BAIT” finds the band in full menace mode.
