Buckle up, kids! We’ve got a jam-packed instalment of What’s Going On for you this week. Hot new tunes from Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Lights, and YUNGBLUD are lighting up our playlists. Plus, we’ve got a bit of live stuff from Sting to remind us all why he’s still the GOAT. As always, if you dig what you hear, be sure to stream and follow these artists.

YUNGBLUD –  British rocker YUNGBLUD is back with “Lovesick Lullaby,” a brazen Brit-pop banger packed with swagger and soul. The bold track arrives alongside a Charlie Sarsfield-directed video dripping in British culture, full of everything from Burberry to black cabs. The pub-ready anthem rocks along with defiant charm. “Lovesick Lullaby” plants YUNGBLUD’s Doc Martens firmly back on British soil and is the perfect new track as he gears up for the return of Bludfest, his very own curated festival. Rule Britannia? Oh yeah!

Lights – One of Canada’s greatest musical exports, Lights unpacks grief, growth, love, and self-discovery on her forthcoming album A6, a bold blend of Midwest emo, retro new wave, and immersive synth-wave. Written and produced by Lights from her home in British Columbia and steeped in the gritty romance of Berlin, A6 captures fleeting moments like secret journal entries. Singles like the explosive “ALIVE AGAIN,” aching “DAMAGE,” and the dual-release gems “WHITE PAPER PALM TREES” and “SURFACE TENSION” show the range of vibes on A6. With nearly half a billion streams and a whopping four JUNO Awards under her belt, Lights launches her (A)LIVE AGAIN Tour this May across North America.

Sting – Seven-time GRAMMY winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sting is out now with STING 3.0 LIVE, available digitally, on CD, and 180g vinyl. Captured during his acclaimed “STING 3.0” World Tour with Dominic Miller and Chris Maas, the album reimagines Sting’s greatest hits, including the first-ever live version of “Be Still My Beating Heart.” Produced by Martin Kierszenbaum, this 10-track collection offers a fresh, electrifying take on Sting’s greatest hits.

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers – Rising rockers and 2024 Spotify RADAR stars Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are back with “BALCONY,” their first single since winning Australia’s coveted Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist ARIA Award. Produced by 3x GRAMMY winner Catherine Marks, the cheeky banger is out now via Mom + Pop Music and Community Music. The fierce track kicks off a bold new era for the band, recorded at The Grove Studios. You can catch the quartet supporting Pearl Jam for six U.S. dates, and then launching their own headline shows across New York, L.A., and Toronto.

Taken By Tides – Texas-based rockers Taken By Tides return with their new single “A Thousand Lives,” out now alongside a stunning cinematic video. Fusing unbridled emotion with genre-defying grit, the band unpacks grief, resilience, and eternal love on the track. Written during a bitter winter of personal loss, the song captures the ache of wanting to defy fate. Produced by Drew Sullivan and crafted in their Texas home studio, “A Thousand Lives” follows their explosive single “Ghost Vibrations” (which we loved!) and acclaimed EP It Ends With You. Anyone who says rock is dead in 2025 needs to listen to Taken By Tides.

Slowjoy – Dallas-based Chicano artist Slow Joy (Esteban Flores) is out now with “Here For You,” a gritty love song built on loyalty through darkness. The track previews his debut album A Joy So Slow At Times I Don’t Think It’s Coming (out May 16th via Mick Music). Produced by Mike Sapone, the song weaves shoegaze, grunge, and emotional punk into a cathartic wall of sound. “Here For You” also comes with the release of a powerful video honouring his Mexican heritage. Featuring iconic masked figures like the Sugar Skull and the Bull, Flores expands his intimate exploration of grief, resilience, and identity into a vivid, evocative visual.
