It’s that time of year again! The smell of fresh vinyl is in the air, and music lovers everywhere are gearing up for the holy grail of crate-digging: Record Store Day 2025. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 12th, because this spring’s haul is packed with limited-edition releases, live albums, rare reissues, and special colour vinyl variants just waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re camping out overnight (bring snacks, a book, and maybe even a diaper, no judgment here!) or rolling up with coffee in hand at dawn, RSD is all about the thrill of the hunt, the love of music, and the community that comes with it. So set that alarm, text your fellow music nerds, and get ready: Record Store Day 2025 is coming in hot. Happy digging!
Before we dive into the releases I’m most excited about, a friendly reminder: be sure to check with your local record store for stock availability and hit up the Record Store Day website to find out which stores in your area are participating. If anyone reading this wants to buy me some of these releases, I’d love you forever. Anyway, let’s get into it. Here are five RSD 2025 drops I can’t wait to spin.
Bif Naked – “Champion”
Her Royal Majesty’s Entertainment
Canadian rock queen Bif Naked is back! Champion marks her first studio album of new material since 2009, and fans of the “I Love Myself Today” hitmaker have been hungry. Recorded with longtime collaborators Peter Karroll, Doug Fury, and Chiko Miso Mali, this release captures Bif’s signature mix of grit and empowerment. If that’s not cool enough, each album jacket is personally hand-signed by Bif herself and includes a unique postcard for fans.
Post Malone – “Tribute to Nirvana” [Yellow LP]
Republic Records
We all remember Post Malone’s livestream tribute to Nirvana from April 2020, when he donned a Kurt Cobain-esque dress and performed the influential grunge band’s greatest hits. That raw, surprisingly faithful live set is finally coming to wax. Featuring Travis Barker on drums and pressed on a grungy-looking yellow vinyl, this release includes Posty’s renditions of classics like “Come As You Are,” “Lithium,” “In Bloom,” and more. This is what Record Store Day is all about!
Kelela – “In The Blue Light” [Clear Vinyl]
Warp Records
Kelela always brings something transcendent, and this one is extra special. In The Blue Light is a 2xLP limited edition release of 12 reimagined tracks drawn from her catalogue and a handful of covers, all performed live at her sold-out residency at NYC’s legendary Blue Note jazz club. Pressed on sleek clear vinyl and packaged in a gorgeous gatefold sleeve, this one is tailor-made for late-night listening and immersive headphone sessions. Get lost in the vibe.
Wallows – “More” [Evergreen & White Vinyl]
Atlantic Records
Buzzworthy alt-rockers Wallows are following up their latest album, Model, with this exclusive RSD EP. More features their catchy single “Your New Favorite Song” and is the only physical release of the EP. Pressed on Evergreen & White vinyl and produced by GRAMMY-winner John Congleton, this one’s got the cool factor and the quality. The rock trio features two young Hollywood heavyweights, Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why, Scream) and Braeden Lemasters (Betrayal, T@gged), but they’ve got the chops to back up the hype. Limited edition CDs will be floating around, too, so keep your eyes peeled.
David Bowie – “Ready, Set, Go!” (Live, Riverside Studios ’03)
Parlophone
This is a must for any Bowie completist. Capturing the legendary 2003 satellite-streamed concert from London’s Riverside Studios (always an innovator and ahead of the curve), this live performance of his album Reality is finally available on 180g heavyweight vinyl. There’s a CD as well for those who prefer that format. Expect a dazzling show and a replica poster to boot. It’s David Bowie’s Reality fully realized in a live setting, and it’s ours to own on vinyl for the first time.
