One of my favourite guitarists of all time is Warren Haynes, a longtime member of the Allman Brothers Band, a founding member of Gov’t Mule, and a frequent collaborator and member of The Dead. The incredibly prolific Haynes is also a solo artist who recently released Dreams & Songs: A Symphonic Journey, recorded live in 2019 with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra. The album is a musical journey through Haynes’s career, including the bands he’s played with and covers he’s become renowned for.
I had the chance to hop on ZOOM to talk with Warren Haynes about his new album, working with producer Don Was and mixer Bob Clearmountain, how he chose the music to feature in Dreams & Songs, and whether or not we could see The Brothers play together again following their fantastic two-night stand at Madison Square Garden in 2025.
