There’s a longstanding tradition that says Christmas is for kids. They get Santa and stockings and sparkly things, while the adults just get tired. But that can’t always be true! Eventually, children fall asleep. When they do, it’s time for the grown-ups to rock around the Christmas tree. If rocking isn’t feasible, then why not play some cards? We’re not talking about poker. Here are some fun adult card games that would make great gifts for those who are past the age of consent.
Psycho Killer
After a long day of forced togetherness, you may have the overwhelming desire to kill your friends. We don’t suggest doing that, unless you’re playing Psycho Killer, the card game that brings the slasher movie experience to your table. All the tropes are here. Cards will make you drop your keys, have problems with your car, or give you weapons. But if the Psycho Killer card is played, someone’s gonna get hurt. Whoever has the fewest accumulated injuries at the end wins. Grab some expansion packs for even more violent fun!

Don’t Drink and Draw
Pencils at the ready, people! In Don’t Drink and Draw, players draw three cards naming a person, an action, and a location. Your job is to combine those three elements into a drawing. Other players have to guess what your picture depicts. If they get the answer wrong, they have to drink. It doesn’t have to be an alcoholic drink, of course, but it seems a lot more fun if you get schnockered along the way.

Poorly Explained Movies (A Game)
Have you ever tried to remember the name of a great flick you saw, but when you tried to describe it, no one knew what you were talking about? That’s the premise of Poorly Explained Movies (A Game). Each card has a vague and strange synopsis of a famous movie (e.g., “A trash compactor falls in love” for WALL-E). Can the other players figure out the film? You hope not, because you win if they can’t!

Punish Me, Daddy
Truth or Dare takes a wicked turn by completely removing truth from the equation. Nope, it’s all dares in Punish Me, Daddy, with skeevy little twists added to gameplay designed to make the players red-faced. If there’s a dare and a twist you can’t do, then you draw a punishment card that raises the stakes to ridiculous levels. You were probably better off before. Punish Me, Daddy is not for youngsters or the faint of heart.

Bad Choices
Do you really want to know how well you know your friends? In Bad Choices, there are more than 300 question cards that encourage players to see if their moral compass needs adjusting. But there’s a catch. You have to figure out which one of your friends is most likely to answer yes. For example, who has gone through their partner’s phone? Your Aunt Caroline? Friendly next-door neighbor, Steve? Pastor Dan? The answers may make you want to take a shower in scalding hot water. Snag the After Dark expansion pack for more frivolity!
You’re running out of time to buy gifts! We’ve linked to the game publishers for purchasing purposes, but you may be able to find some of these games at your local big box stores. bookstores, or online retailers that offer fast delivery. Let the kids pass out after their yearly sugar rush and spice up your holidays with some risqué cards!
