The Week in Horror: Check Out Trailer For ‘Guns Akimbo’ And ‘Verotika’

Happy Sunday, fiends. Got a real quickie for you today. Two major trailer drops that will definitely be worth talking about. So let’s get current!

First up, Jason Lei Howden’s follow up to his brilliant cult horror-comedy Deathgasm is on its way, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Samara Weaving. Guns Akimbo follows Radcliffe’s character waking up and finding guns nailed or screwed to his hands and Weaving out to kill him. The trailer is mad fun, giving me Crank vibes. I’m a big fan of Deathgasm, so I’m really excited to Guns Akimbo when it hits theatres on February 28th, 2020. Check out the trailer below…

And then we finally have a trailer for Glenn Danzig’s directorial debut, Verotika, a horror anthology based on the line of comics from Danzig’s Verotik line. As the film has already played at some festival screenings, we’ve had plenty of reports detailing how off the rails crazy, but also dismally bad it is. To me, the trailer doesn’t really support either opinion. Yes, there does seem to be a fair amount of blood and flesh and yes, some of the acting on display looks a bit, um, porn level, but I really doubt most horror fans are really going to be “shocked” by this film. Also, even if the acting is shit if you’re truly a fan of Danzig, Samhain, or the Misfits you’re probably going to find some reason to enjoy this nonsense (as a fan of those aforementioned bands, yea, I’m going in not giving one shit about any of the negative things I’ve read). Bonus, Danzig has been pulling a lot of inspiration from 1970s European horror films and also Italian Spaghetti Westerns as well as Euro Horror for his next film, Death Rider. So dig it…

So that’s it for this week. Excited to see either one of these films? Leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments and check back here next week for more on the latest news in horror!
