’Hobbs and Shaw’ To Light Up The Box Office This Weekend

Things are going to seriously go boom at the box office this weekend, as Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham team up for a spin-off from the Fast and Furious franchise.

Hobbs and Shaw sees the duo head out into their own adventures, minus the presence of Vin Diesel and the other Fast and Furious stars. They’re joined by Vanessa Kirby, WWE superstar (and Johnson’s cousin) Roman Reigns, and as “Black Superman”, Idris Elba. The trailers for Hobbs and Shaw have been incredibly entertaining, and with John Wick and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch at the helm, I’m confident that this is the mindless, blow ‘em up action movie every summer needs. Look for Hobbs and Shaw to debut in first place this weekend with $76 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Disney’s The Lion King will drop to second place with $45 million. Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood will be in third place with $24 million. Spider-Man: Far From Home will be in fourth place with $9 million, while Toy Story 4 will close things out in fifth place with $8.5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Hobbs and Shaw – $76 million
2) Disney’s The Lion King – $45 million
3) Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood – $24 million
4) Spider-Man: Far From Home – $9 million
5) Toy Story 4 – $8.5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
