’A Quiet Place’ Looking to Make some Noise This Weekend

Horror looks to be leading the charge this weekend, as A Quiet Place, a brand new property and NOT a sequel, enters the box office race. Will it make an impact? Here’s our prediction:

A Quiet Place stars Hollywood couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, and is directed by Krasinski in his first major directorial outing. With minimal dialogue and a lot of genuine scares, A Quiet Place has been getting rave reviews and has its eye on the top spot at the box office. While neither Krasinski or Blunt are huge draws, there’s definitely a horror audience that’s always looking for something new and entertaining. There are also celeb watchers who will probably get a kick out of seeing the couple acting together. Throw in the fact that even bad horror movies often do well on their opening weekends, and A Quiet Place should have no trouble scoring a loud debut. Look for it to arrive in first place with $32 million.

Also out this weekend is the adult comedy Blockers, starring WWE superstar John Cena in his first major starring role. It should be interesting to watch how Blockers performs, as this Sunday is Wrestlemania, the biggest sports entertainment event of the year. Will audiences head to the movies to see Cena, or will they choose to stay home and save their energy for the seven-hour long event? We’re predicting a third place debut for Blockers with $17 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Ready Player One will fall to second place with $25 million. Tyler Perry’s Acrimony will be in fourth place with $8 million, with Black Panther right behind it in fifth with $7.5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) A Quiet Place – $32 million
2) Ready Player One – $25 million
3) Blockers – $17 million
4) Tyler Perry’s Acrimony – $8 million
5) Black Panther – $7.5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
