‘Thor: Ragnarok’ to conquer the box office competition

It’s a huge weekend at the box office, as the final Marvel Studios film of 2017 is unleashed. How much will it dominate by? Here’s our prediction:

The hype is in overload mode for Thor: Ragnarok, which sees the return of Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Tom Hiddleston to their beloved roles as Thor, Hulk, and Loki, respectively. Joing them are newcomers Cate Blanchett and Jeff Goldblum. Directed by Taiki Waititi, Ragnarok has been getting absolutely outstanding reviews for its heavy comedic tone. It currently sits at 94% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes, the best performing Thor film so far. At this point, the sky is the limit for this third Asgardian tale, and I’m feeling it’s going to perform on the higher end of the scale. Look for a first place debut for Thor: Ragnarok with $125 million.

As for the rest of the top five, the comedy sequel A Bad Moms Christmas, which hit theaters this past Wednesday, is going to arrive in second place with $20 million, even with dismal reviews playing against it. Geostorm will be in third place with $4 million, while the two Halloween holdouts, Jigsaw and Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Hallowen will close things out in fourth place with $3.5 million and fifth place with $3 million, respectively.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Thor: Ragnarok – $125 million
2) A Bad Moms Christmas – $20 million
3) Geostorm – $4 million
4) Jigsaw – $3.5 million
5) Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween – $3 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
