‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ hits first place at the box office

The robots may be in disguise, but they still managed to grab the number one spot at the box office. Here’s what went down:

Despite the du rigour bad reviews, Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight did debut at the top of the box office, bringing in an estimated three-day total of $45.3 million. That’s the lowest debut for a film in the series, and its doubtful this instalment will perform well in North America. However, there are the overseas numbers to come in, and no doubt they’ll be strong enough to warrant another Transformers film, even though Bay has once again promised that he’s finished directing them.

As for the rest of the top five, Wonder Woman managed to once again hold on to second place at the box office, bringing in an estimated $26.1 million. Cars 3 dropped from first to third place with $25.6 million, while 47 Meters Down was in fourth with $6.9 million. The 2pac bio All Eyez On Me crashed and burned hard, dropping 79% to close out the top five with $5.9 million.

So, to recap, here were our predictions:

1) Transformers: The Last Knight – $43 million
2) Cars 3 – $30 million
3) Wonder Woman – $28 million
4) All Eyez On Me – $12 million
5) The Mummy – $6 million
