Greatness Lives On With “All Star Batman #1” On The Wednesday Run

Here’s a new idea if you’re DC Comics:

All Star Batman 1 coverLet’s start a brand new monthly series starring Batman! Readers are sure to flock to the title and sales will be huge! Let’s slap an “All Star” title on top of it and we’d be a sure-fire hit at the top of the publishing charts month in and month out! And we can tie it into this whole “Rebirth” re-launch idea! It’s perfect timing, I tell ‘ya!

Look, you might be forgiven if you’re a little cynical over such marketing efforts in the industry we love so much. It’s all been done before, i know. But the truth is, with this whole “Rebirth” branding across all the DC Comics titles the past few months, re-launching a new Batman series is a good idea. Putting “All Star” across the top of the cover page is a decent way to differentiate the comic from other ones starring the same character.

But the main draw for readers will always remain the creative team. And DC has gone out of their way to ensure greatness with this particular “All Star” title.

Today, finally, sees the much anticipated release of All Star Batman #1!

Over a span of the last three and a half years, writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo gave us one of, if not the greatest, monthly Batman series of stories every published.

Hell, I’m going to say that in the format of monthly Batman periodicals, there was never better. High, high praise, I know. But it was that good. It was that compelling. It was that fresh.

But, like all great things, their Batman series ended, and DC Comics gave us the “Rebirth” series of titles across their publishing empire. Scott Snyder, however, had more Batman tales to tell – and All Star Batman #1 is where he once again picks up the pen and begins crafting his ongoing stories of the Dark Knight Detective.

This time, Snyder is joined by an ensemble cast of fantastic artists to help him spin his yarns. Over the first story arc, it’s comic industry legend, John Romita Jr.

All Star Batman #1 begins the enviable task of reestablishing a number of Gotham City’s worst villains. It’s Batman’s rogue’s gallery that is front and centre here, beginning with Harvey Dent – Two Face!

Handcuffed together, Batman and Two-face are on the run from every assassin, bounty hunter and duplicitous Gotham citizens who have only one goal in mind: kill the Dark Knight!

It’s a fast-paced, enthralling tale that is sure to keep readers on their toes!

Make the run to your local comic book shop today and pick up All Star Batman #1 – and follow Snyder’s continued (and exceptional) stories of darkness, action, mystery and heroism!
