Actor Trading Cards: Lena Headey

Lena Headey
LENA HEADEY

Born: October 3, 1973 in Hamilton, Bermuda (raised in Yorkshire, England)
Height: 5’6

Personal Quote:

“I’m a tomboy. I used to get into a lot of fights. Don’t know why – self-expression, I guess.”

Did You Know?

Has a number of tattoos, including a large floral design on her back and a Pema Chodron quote on her ribs.

SUMMARY:

Depicting a range of strong characters with both brains and beauty, Lena Headey brings an intensity to every role that has landed her in the same ‘Tier 1’ acting category as fellow leading ladies Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt.  As one looks back over her filmography, you’ll most likely discover that you’ve been watching her for years, even if you don’t  remember recognizing her name until her role as Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones (and, if you haven’t watched her on GOT, order all 5 seasons on Amazon right now and get caught up!). Next up for Headey is the Action-Horror Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which she has been receiving good buzz on (although the film itself…not so much).

HIGHLIGHTS:
Best Known For: The Brothers Grimm (Angelika), 300 (Queen Gorgo), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Television Series (Sarah Connor), Dredd (Ma-Ma), Game of Thrones Television Series (Cersei Lannister)

Breakout Role (according to the masses): Game of Thrones Television Series

Breakout Role (according to Leo Craven): 300
– This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and although Queen Gorgo didn’t have a ton of screen time, I found her to be one of the strongest female characters I have ever watched on the silver screen (unfortunately, I don’t feel that the writers were successful in capturing that again in the sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire).

Box Office Status: Co-Star Firepower

Next Project to Look Out for: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (In theaters February 5th)

Most Famous Role: Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones (HBO doesn’t allow video embeds on other sites, but this video includes 5 of Cersei’s most memorable scenes / quotes and it’s worth taking a slight detour on to YouTube to watch):

AWARDS:

Nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Primetime Emmy Awards) in 2014 & 2015 for “Game of Thrones”

Nominated for Favorite Villain (TV Guide Awards) in 2014 for “Game of Thrones”

Nominated for Breakthrough Performance (MTV Movie Awards) in 2007 for “300”

ONE LAST THING:

Are you planning to head to the theater this weekend? If so, here’s the film that should be at the top of your list (please note this is the ‘Bloody Good’ trailer which is WAY better than the trailer the mainstream media has been running):

…AND ONE MORE THING:

There are a lot of fantastic scenes in the movie 300, but ‘A Queen’s Revenge’ is one of the best and most underrated:
