Evangeline LillyEVANGELINE LILLY

Born: August 3, 1979 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada
Height: 5’6

Did You Know?

Prior to her starring role on Lost (2004), Lilly worked as an extra on film sets to help pay her University tuition. She can be seen in episodes of Tru Calling (2003), Dead Like Me (2003) and Smallville (2001), and in several films including White Chicks (2004),Stealing Sinatra (2003) and Freddy vs. Jason (2003).

SUMMARY:

Evangeline Lilly’s star is rising fast. She went from being a fan-favorite on Lost, to a kick-a** elf in the Hobbit trilogy, and now she’s getting some great buzz for her role as Hope van Dyne in the upcoming Ant-Man (as is the rest of the cast featured in this Summer’s biggest ‘underdog’ film). There’s a lot of speculation as to what Lilly’s long-term role will be in the MCU (the Wasp, perhaps?), but regardless of her future in super hero films, this leading lady is destined to be a staple on the silver screen for a long time.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Best Known For: Lost (‘Kate Austen’),  Real Steel (‘Bailey Tallet’), and The Hobbit Trilogy (‘Tauriel’)

Breakout Role (according to the masses): Lost

Breakout Role (according to Leo Craven): Lost
– I have to agree with the ‘masses’ here. Kate was one of my favorite characters on the show, and when it ended in 2010 I couldn’t wait to see what Evangeline Lilly was going to do next. Everything I’ve seen her in since has been great, and I’m really excited about her role in the MCU.

Box Office Status: Rising Star

Next Project to Look Out for: Ant-Man (In theaters July 17th)

Most Famous Scene (‘Jack kissing Kate goodbye’ in Lost):

AWARDS:

Won for Best Fight (MTV Movie Awards) in 2014 for “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” (shared w/ Orlando Bloom)

Nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama (Golden Globe Awards) in 2007 for “Lost”

ONE LAST THING:

If there’s a single doubt in anyone’s mind that Lilly can’t play a prominent super hero role in the MCU, I strongly recommend they watch the ‘barrel fight scene’ from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug:
