Frozen Freezes Out The Marked Ones – Biff Bam Pop’s Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Report

The early box office estimates are in and, as predicted, we have a new number one. Here’s what went down.

After duking it out with The Hobbit for the past three weeks, Frozen finally returned to the top spot at the box office, bringing in $22.5 million, raising its total to $299 million in North America. The film continues to have legs and could find itself close to $350 million when its run concludes.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones debuts in second place with a so-so $17.5 million, a far cry from the previous Paranormal Activity films. However, those were released in October to tie in with Halloween, while this new franchise is opening at the tail end of the holidays. The Marked Ones also has a budget of just $5 million, so even if the opening number wasn’t spectacular, its already a successful film.

As for the rest of the top five, The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug dropped to third with $17 million. The Wolf of Wall Street with all its f-bombs was in fourth with $13.7 million, while American Hustle closed things out in fifth with $13.5 million.
