Biff Bam Pop’s DVD Tuesday

Toy Story 3: The biggest film of the year comes to 2-disc DVD/Blu-Ray today. Critically acclaimed and a huge blockbuster, expect lots of tears when watching Buzz, Woody and all of Andy’s toys have one last adventure together. That’s right, the word is that Toy Story 3 is the final in the series, but with over $1 billion at the box office, you never know.

Love & Distrust: This has got to be straight-to-DVD, because I don’t recall ever seeing a poster, let alone a commercial for this particular film. It’s got a strong ensemble case, including Robert Pattinson, Robert Downey Jr, Sam Worthington, Amy Adams and James Franco, but is so under the radar that when I looked it up on Wikipedia, it didn’t even have an entry! It took a gander at IMDB to find out that the film contains five different stories about love…and distrust. Pass.

Centurion: a film about “the ill-fated Ninth Legion marching north to Caledonia (Scotland) to wipe out the Picts and their leader”, Centurion is directed by the great Neil Marshall, best known for directing The Descent and Doomsday. Though it received a cinematic release in Europe, this one bypassed theatres in North America, but could be worth checking out, as Marshall films always look great.

TV Shows On DVD:

The Larry Sanders Show: The Complete Series: a must purchase for fans, as this is the first time complete seasons of the show have been available together).

V: Not the original but the 2009 updated version of the classic 80’s series. While it’s lacking the depth of the original and loses steam at the midway point of the season, the series does show some promise leading into it’s second year (staring in January).
