Zombieland – One of the surprise hits of the fall, Zombieland is an action-comedy that takes place in a world taken over by zombies (hence the title). Few humans remain on the planet, and they fight for their survival by killing zombies. Jesse Eisenberg is the lead, and is accompanied by Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin. There is another quality actor in the film, that makes quite the impression, but to find out who it is, you should check this one out.
Amelia – Hilary Swank was hoping this film would lead her to her 3rd Oscar, but unfortunately this biopic of Amelia Earhart, that also stars Richard Gere and Ewan McGregor, landed with a thud at the box office. Audiences and critics ignored the film, and even suggested that if you wanted to see an entertaining portrayal of Amelia Earhart, then you should check out Amy Adams performance as Earhart in Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
Love Happens – This romance stars Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston. He is a motivational speaker, she is a florist. They end up meeting, and falling for each other, but he is hiding a secret. Will he come to terms with it in time before losing Aniston? If you have seen the trailer for this film, then you know what happens…LOVE!
Planet Hulk – This animated tale follows Hulk as he gets banished to a distant planet by his superhero friends. Hulk gets put into a gladiatorial style battle to die, but like Maximus Decimus Meridius, Hulk starts winning and gets people to follow him, except Hulk has no interest in being a leader or a hero. Will he lead the enslaved people to victory?
Universal Soldier: Regeneration – This is a Direct-To-DVD sequel that reunites original stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. An evil universal soldier takes over a nuclear power plant, and it is up to Van Damme to save the day. Then Lundgren’s universal soldier shows up, and you have to wonder which side he will be on, as he was the villain in the original. This could be fun for anyone who liked the original.
More Than A Game – This acclaimed documentary followed what was deemed to be the greatest basketball team ever, and not surprisingly LeBron James was one of the kids on the team. It follows the team through the highs and lows of their season, as well as all the outside pressure the kids faced, and how well and how poorly they handled it. A must-see for any basketball fan.
New York, I Love You – Much like Paris, Je T’aime, this is an ensemble film that features multiple short films from multiple directors. All the stories are set in New York. Definitely not as acclaimed as the Paris version, but if you’re a fan of the people involved (Brett Ratner, Mira Nair, Natalie Portman, Rachel Bilson, Ethan Hawke, Andy Garcia, Julie Christie, Robin Wright Penn, and many many more), it might be worth checking out.
The House of the Devil – This film was noted as a return to the horror films of the 70’s and 80’s (check out its poster to see what I mean), and even stars some famous horror film actors. The plot centres around a girl who needs to make some money, so she takes a job as a babysitter for the Unman family. When midnight hits, and a full lunar eclipse happens, evil is unleashed, and the babysitter has no idea what she is in for.
Triangle – This film is interesting based on the trailer that I saw, as it follows a few friends who are on a yacht. A storm hits them in the Bermuda Triangle, and they are forced to board an ocean liner, which seems to be abandoned. Strange events happen, and a weird sense of déjà-vu is felt by one of the characters. The trailer is definitely worth checking out as it will help elaborate on what I think is an intriguing premise.
Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars – Another Doctor Who adventure where the group lands on Mars in 2059, where they are warned not to drink the water. I don’t know much more, as I’m unfortunately not a fan of the series, but many are, so this would appeal to them.

Murder, She Wrote: The Complete Eleventh Season – Angela Lansbury’s Jessica Fletcher continues to solve murders with the help of the resident of Cabot Cove, Maine. This is the second last season of the series.
G.I. Joe: Volume 1.3 – The original animated series has more tales that involve Duke, Hawk, Snake Eyes, and others as they battle the ruthless, terrorist organization known as Cobra. It’s definitely a lot more fun than watching the recent live-action version.
Dynasty: The Fourth Season, Volume Two – The continuing saga of the Carrington family, as they continue to face the hardships of privileged life in Denver. It’s campy, 80’s fun, although it was more serious when it actually aired. It’s hard to get past the 80’s style of the show, but Dynasty was acclaimed in its time.
Beverly Hills 90210: The Ninth Season – The second last season of the original series comes out on DVD and more and more of the original cast had vanished by the time we have reached this season. Definitely a guilty pleasure purchase, and like Dynasty being stuck in the 80’s, 90210 is definitely stuck in the 90’s, which makes it campy fun, even though it was played seriously when it originally aired.
