Corina’s Cartoon Cuts: South Park 1%

Last week South Park took a stab at the #Occupy movement in the 1% episode; and as usual they hit the nail on the head in satirizing the inherent generalization of the 99%. With media posed to exploit any occupation they can find, South Park’s lesser known fast food hangout becomes the scene of #OccupyRedRobin in protest of the Presidential Fitness Test.

But all satire aside, the best part of this episode? It’s all about Cartman.

Corina’s Cartoon Cuts: South Park Broadway Bro Down

The latest episode of South Park helps to explain a phenomenon I’ve never personally understood: the ongoing obsession with musical theatre. I’d say Trey Parker’s well qualified to enlighten us… he’s won  9 Tonys. But more importantly, I learned why so many men put up with taking their women to musicals; the magic of subtext!

Corina’s Cartoon Cuts: South Park Bass to Mouth

Last week’s South Park examined Britain’s phone hacking scandal and the effects of Arby’s horsey sauce. It also picked up the epic tale of Lemmiwinks, the gerbil king. Wikileaks, the bum hacker, with a heart of doom… Everyone knows the gerbil king, but no one ever speaks, of Lemmiwink’s brother… the evil Wikileaks. Lemmiwinks, king of Gerbils, stop your brother of doom.

Corina’s Cartoon Cuts: South Park, Last of the Meheecans

After an unsobering first episode about Assburgers, the latest episode of South Park takes a look at the good old game of Texans vs. Mexicans… or as the U.S. calls it “Border Patrol”. Even Steven Segal’s been playing lately, and as a Canadian I always enjoy watching anti-immigration attitudes being shot down.

Corina’s Cartoon Cuts: South Park returns… with Ass Burgers!

South Park fans had a moment of doubt when the series paused last June (mid-season) with a sobering thought: You’re getting old. After ~15 years, one movie, and a spinoff broadway musical, it’s no wonder Trey Parker & Matt Stone are feeling the South Park burn out. But not to worry; the series returned to flex its muscle against vaccination fears & fast food, and the power of alcohol to make shit sound awesome.
