Lucas Mangum’s Hidden Horror Gems: Bruiser
What do you get when you mix horror legend George A. Romero, a revenge fantasy, an existential study into the nature of identity, and an appearance by punk rockers The Misfits? You get Bruiser, one of the later efforts in Romero’s decorated career and one of his least recognized films. Maybe it’s because it didn’t have zombies in it. Maybe it’s because it wasn’t a high profile collaboration with Stephen King. For whatever reason, I rarely hear this film mentioned when discussing Romero’s many accomplishments with other fans. And what shame!

Exclusive Interview: Jovanka Vuckovic Talks The Captured Bird
Jovanka Vuckovic is one of the bright lights in the horror field today. The former Editor-in-Chief of Rue Morgue Magazine is the author of Zombies! An Illustrated History Of The Undead and the forthcoming Vuckovic’s Horror Miscellany, and has been named by Chicago Now “one of the most important women in the history of horror”.
Not a bad cv.
While Vuckovic is a horror historian, she’s also become a creator in her own right. Her first short film, The Captured Bird, produced by Guillermo del Toro, recently screened in theatres across Canada in front of The Soska Sister’s film, American Mary, before making its way onto iTunes, where it’s now available for $2.99.

Emily McGuiness thinks you might get a Hangover Part III
Dream crushed. Dream stomped on, chewed up, spit on. Hollywood, you fickle mistress, you have disappointed me again. Just once, once, I would like to see a sequel that lives up to the potential of the movies that came before it. (Arm yourselves with your Aliens comments below) I loved The Hangover. Most people did. It was a brilliant in that it was a raunchy mystery that we were solving right along with the cast. Couldn’t be repeated, but damn if Hollywood was going to let that stop them. Instead we are subjected to The Hangover Part III.
A Gift From the Metal Gods – Black Sabbath’s 13 Reviewed
When it comes to Black Sabbath, I’m a Dio guy, through and through.
But holy devil horns! 13, the band’s first studio release with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978′s Never Say Die!, is a heaping slab of absolutely awesome hard rock.
