Watch With Amanda: What’s New In 2013? Your Midseason TV Preview

Happy New Year! If your resolution was to watch more TV, then I am here to help. This season there is something for everyone who is looking to fill the void in their TV schedules. Kevin Bacon stars as an FBI profiler tracking down a serial killer. Felicity (Keri Russell) returns as an undercover KGB spy in 1980′s America. Or maybe Anthony Edwards long awaited return to the small screen will spark your interest?  I’ve singled out 10 of the most anticipated mid season shows debuting in 2013 complete with trailers and premiere dates. What will you be watching?

DECEPTION

WHEN: Monday January 7th @ 10pm on NBC
WHO: Meagan Good (Californication), Victor Garber (Alias), Wes Brown (Private Practice), Tate Donovan (Damages)
WHAT: When Vivian Bowers, a famous socialite, is found dead from what appears to be an overdose, her best friend, Detective Joanna Locasto (Good), is re-embraced by the wealthy Bowers family and in time she begins to uncover the truth of what really happened with her friend’s death.

THE CARRIE DIARIES

WHEN: Monday January 14th @ 8pm on CW
WHO: AnnaSophia Robb (Soul Surfer), Matt Letscher (Eli Stone), Austin Butler (Switched at Birth), Katie Findlay (The Killing)
WHAT: It is a prequel to the HBO television series Sex and the City and based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell. The show focuses on Carrie Bradshaw (Robb) during her senior year of high school during the early 1980s and part of her life in New York working as a writer. Read the rest of this entry

Watch With Amanda: What’s On TV This Week? December 10 – 16

This week: It’s going to become less busy in front of the couch next week with Dexter and Homeland wrapping up their seasons on Sunday. It’s also winter finale time with Grey’s Anatomy, The Vampire Diaries, New Girl and more taking a break until the New Year.

Monday December 10th
How I Met Your Mother (8pm): Barney’s developing relationship with Patrice leaves Robin questioning his motives, while Marshall’s widowed mother gets back into the dating pool, but he thinks she may be swimming with a shark.

American Country Awards (8pm): Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth host the third annual fan-voted event in Las Vegas. Performers include Jason Aldean; Lady Antebellum; Dierks Bentley; Luke Bryan; Little Big Town; Rascal Flatts; Kip Moore; and Jake Owen.
Gossip Girl (9pm): Blair’s encounter with Bart leaves her worried about Chuck, so she sets out to help him and recruits some assistance. Meanwhile, Chuck enters into a potentially life-altering agreement; and Nate’s financial woes put him in unfamiliar territory.

Hawaii Five-0 (10pm): A camping trip turns deadly when an armed man takes McGarrett and a girl hostage. Meanwhile, Adam introduces Kono to his dangerous brother who was recently released from prison.

Monday December 3rd
How I Met Your Mother (8pm): A determined Robin contemplates one last fling with Barney and devises a scheme to entice him into an assignation. Meanwhile, Ted steps in as Marvin’s nanny, and Marshall and Lily realize there’s a definite motive behind the move.

Bones (8pm): A psychic joins the investigation of the death of a little boy whose soul is believed to be still alive, prompting the team members to reflect on their beliefs of life after death.

Gossip Girl (9pm): Serena and Dan host a Thanksgiving dinner for their friends. Meanwhile, Blair tries to help a dispirited Chuck, who feels unsuccessful in the war against his father; and Dan is hesitant to publish his latest article, fearing it will ruin a friendship.
Hawaii Five-0 (10pm): Max and a cute bank teller he’s attracted to are put in harm’s way during a botched bank robbery. The investigation reveals that the thieves had unexpected motives for attempting the heist. Meanwhile, Danny protects a model from a stalker.
Castle (10pm): A man resembling Santa Claus is found dead in Central Park, and Castle and Beckett uncover some unsavory things about him as they investigate his murder. Meanwhile, Castle and Beckett prepare to celebrate their first Christmas as a couple.

This week: Winter finales are upon us with Revenge and The Walking Dead taking a hiatus until 2013.

Tuesday November 27th
NCIS (8pm): A teen girl is kidnapped when a Navy captain, his daughter and her friend are attacked. Meanwhile, Tony gets jealous when Ziva makes plans with a mysterious man.

Hart of Dixie (8pm): Lavon and Ruby’s romance proves problematic for Zoe and Lemon, who try to uncover Ruby’s real angle. Meanwhile, Wade wants to evade George, but they wind up on the same camping trip; and Brick hopes to take his relationship with Emily to the next level.
Raising Hope (8pm): The Chances sign up for a charity walk to benefit Angry Bowel Syndrome, a condition Jimmy had as a child. Meanwhile, Burt and Virginia start to feel like they’re getting old; and Jimmy finds it difficult to support Sabrina in a spat with her ex when he thinks she’s at fault.
Ben & Kate (8:30pm): Kate has a hard time taking Will seriously after she sees the face he makes while playing guitar in his cover band; Tommy hooks Ben up with a job at the country club; BJ goes to a support-group meeting and gains insight about her friendship with Kate.
New Girl (9pm): Jess and Cece begin to worry about their biological clocks when they learn that a friend is pregnant. Meanwhile, Schmidt wants to please Emma; Nick and Winston look for inspiration for Nick’s zombie-theme novel at the zoo.

Go On (9pm): Ryan decides to date again and receives an invitation from Olympian Misty May-Treanor (playing herself) to play beach volleyball with her pals. Meanwhile, George celebrates living beyond his life expectancy, and Danny begins falling for Sonia.
Emily Owens M.D. (9pm): Emily treats an infant and a deeply religious man whose faith is shaken following surgery. Meanwhile, Will breaks protocol with a risky diagnosis; and Tyra considers telling her father that she is a lesbian.
The Mindy Project (9:30pm): Mindy feels awkward when her teen neighbor inquires about birth control; Danny gets an anonymous complaint that Morgan has been staring inappropriately at Shauna.
The New Normal (9:30pm): The guys accidentally discover the sex of their baby. Elsewhere, Shania gives a stirring performance at a school assembly, inspiring Goldie to pursue her dreams.
Parenthood (10pm): Julia adjusts to staying home while Joel pursues a career; Crosby clashes with a neighbor who could threaten the Luncheonette; parenting and relationship issues come between Sarah and Mark; Max faces a tough decision as president of the student council; and Amber helps Ryan with his career.

Vegas (10pm): Things get complicated for Savino when Rizzo hires his former mistress, a popular cabaret singer, to perform at the casino. Meanwhile, clues to a murder case lead to a nearby Air Force base, which means police must share jurisdiction with the military.
Sons of Anarchy (10pm): Jax envisions a new direction for the club.
