Saturday at the Movies: Shame

Shame is the latest from Steven McQueen, a writer/director who is known for boldly dramatizing intense subject matter (as in his last movie, Hunger).

Starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan, I expected nothing less of Shame… but wasn’t totally prepared for its depth of psycho-sexuality. Certainly not a film for the shy or sexually repressed, Shame is a steep descent in to the tortured psyche, and the needs that drive us towards others.

Trailer Time: The Divide

TheDividePosterThe Divide is one of those films that has eluded me, despite being quite high on my ‘most recommended’ and ‘must watch’ lists. Thankfully, this post-apocalyptic psycho-drama from Anchor Bay has finally come to video! Starring Michael Biehn, Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Rosanna Arquette and more, no one really stood out until I read the director: Xavier Gens.

Probably best known for Hitman, I think Gens’ Frontière(s) is probably closer to what The Divide will offer – awesome ultra-gory nihilism (fingers crossed!)

Check out the trailer below; I’ll post my review soon, but this’ll give you time to pick up a copy of The Divide so you can help pass judgement!

The Avengers Behind the Scenes: Assemble the Ultimate Protection

The Avengers is gearing up for a huge release on May the 4th, and right on cue comes a brand new behind the scenes featurette. Maybe it was put together in a hurry since the title, Assemble the Ultimate Protection, sounds reminiscent of a condom ad… but it offers a great peek at what The Avengers movie will offer.

Featuring interviews with Joss Whedon, Kevin Feige, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and more, this Marvel and Norton Antivirus promotional piece is a great way to get excited for the film to come.

March Madness: Cowabunga, No! Michael Bay’s Insane Idea To Tweak The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Does anybody really like Michael Bay films? I haven’t really met anyone who thinks Armageddon or any of the Transformers films are actually any good. When it comes to Bay, it’s all big explosions and scantily clad ladies. Now he’s at it again with plans for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film that will completely change the origin of the heroes in a half-shell, an action that has got the entire geek universe up in arms (except for Corey Feldman, who voiced Donatello in the original film as is “IN” if Bay wants him. Of course, if Michael Bay wants Feldman to deliver him a pizza, he’s also “IN”.

On that note, I asked our team of Biff Bam Pop writers to weigh in on his fairly insane plan to turn the turtles into aliens. Here’s what they had to say:
