Trailer Time: Iron Man 3

Just after the first images of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin hit the internet, this morning we have the official first trailer for Iron Man 3.

There is lots of great stuff here, besides a first look at the Mandarin, we get a reference to Marvel’s The Avengers, new armors, the destruction of Tony Stark’s slick playboy hideout, and of course, many many shots of the notorious Iron Patriot armor. We see Tony in it here in the trailer, but rumors are flying about who else might be wearing it as well. In the comics, it was Norman Osborne, but we know it won’t be him…

Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, and Don Cheadle, opens May 3, 2013.

  1. Iron Man is my absolute favorite and it even got me back into reading the comics. I love how deeply flawed this character is, and it’s nice to get away into the fantasy of this rich guy that has it all, but struggles with the desire for even more highs while trying do the right thing.

I had to stop watching the trailer for fear of spoiling too much for myself, though it will be a looooooooong wait to get to May. I’m actually going to go through what all the other comic readers have gone through with hero movies, in that (having gone back and read the last 2 years worth of story lines) I’m so anxious to see what story arcs make it to the screen and what concessions they’ll have to make to fit it all in a movie’s time frame.

When people bring up the Mayan Prophecy stuff, I have 2 fears: 1: What will happen to my dog? and 2: Will I get to see Iron Man 3?
