New Releases Bomb, The Expendables Stay Strong – Biff Bam Pop’s Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Report

New releases, we hardly knew ye. At least this week’s new releases at the box office, none of which managed to even make the top five. Here’s how the weekend turned out.

The Expendables 2 managed to hold onto the top spot at the box office for a second weekend in a row, bringing in $13.5 million to raises its total to $50 million. It still has a way to go to make it past $100 million, which I’m doubtful the film will be able to do.

Find out how the rest of the weekend went down after the jump!
The Bourne Legacy was steady in second place with $9 million. ParaNorman was in third with $8.5 million. The Campaign hit fourth place with $7.4 million while The Dark Knight Rises closed out the top five with $7.1 million.

As for the weekend’s new releases, Premium Rush with Joseph Gordon-Levitt could only muster a seventh place showing with $6.3 million. Hit & Run debut in tenth place with $4.6 million, already making back its $2 million budget. Meanwhile, The Apparition could only bring in $2.9 million to wind up in twelfth place.

So, to recap, here were our predictions:

1) The Expendables 2 – $13 million
2) The Bourne Legacy – $10 million
3) ParaNorman – $9 million
4) Premium Rush – $8 million
5) The Dark Knight Rises – $7.5 million
