Ice Age Looks To Cool Off The Amazing Spider-Man – Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions, Weekend Of July 13th, 2012

This weekend, another animated franchise flick hits theatres, looking to knock The Amazing Spider-Man out the top spot at the box office. Will it be done, or can Spidey hold on for another week? Check out our prediction after the jump!

Ice Age: Continental Drift (or Ice Age 4) marks the ten year anniversary of the very succesful franchise, staring the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Denis Leary, to name just a few. The film is already a hit overseas, having grossed more than $200 million over the past few weeks. A built-in audience of kids means parents are under strict orders to take their children en masse to the theatre this weekend to see Ice Age 4 before anybody else. With that in mind, look for a first place showing and a $62 million gross.

As for the rest of the top five, The Amazing Spider-Man has done strong numbers throughout the week, and will likely manage a decent second week showing. I’m predicting $35 million and a drop to second place, to get its gross just slightly below $200 million. Seth McFarlane’s Ted will hit third place with $22 million, Pixar’s Brave will grab fourth with $13 million and Savages will close things out in fifth with $10 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Ice Age: Continental Drift – $62 million
2) The Amazing Spider-Man - $35 million
3) Ted – $22 million
4) Brave – $13 million
5) Savages – $10 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
