Watch With Amanda: Alcatraz and more axed, Grey’s Anatomy news, and Britney’s new $15 million TV gig

Well guys… it’s official. Alcatraz has been cancelled (poor Hugo). After an amazing start for the series, the ratings plunged and it’s not really surprising that Fox has decided to not bring it back.  In an announcement yesterday Fox has also cancelled Bones‘ spinoff The Finder, Breaking In, and I Hate My Teenage Daughter.  On the bright side, Keifer Sutherland’s Touch has been renewed and the network has also picked up a bunch new shows for the fall and a few sound promising. Click through to read more about them.

– Mindy Kaling‘s (The Office) project, titled It’s Messy, finds her playing a Bridget Jones-type OB/GYN trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives. I guess this means the end of Kelly on The Office.

Vampire Diaries Executive Producer Kevin Williamson is bringing up The Following. The series revolves around a deranged serial killer (James Purefoy) who creates his own cult of murderers via the wonders of technology, and the retired FBI profiler (Kevin Bacon) who is hunting him down. Justified‘s Natalie Zea costars.

– The Goodwin Games is from How I Met Your Mother‘s team Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Chris Harris.  It’s a high-concept comedy about three siblings (played by Becki Newton, Scott Foley and Jake Lacy) who must reconnect in order to inherit their recently-deceased father’s fortune.

ABC has will be announcing their 2012-13 TV schedule on Tuesday but I think it’s safe to say Grey’s Anatomy will be on there.  Until yesterday fans were left up in the air with which characters would be returning or not.  Contract negotiations have finally been settled for the original cast of the show and TVLine has confirmed that Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson have all inked new two-year deals to continue with the ABC medical drama.  It’s been confirmed that a character will die in the season finale. Who’s it going to be?? Teddy? Hunt? April? Arizona? Callie? LEXIE? I’m scared!!!

I’m soooo excited about this news! Britney Spears has officially been named as a judge on The X Factor! Britney will take a seat alongside Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, and a yet-to-be-named fourth judge on Season 2 of the singing competition. According to E, Spears will make a whopping $15 million to act as a judge for one season. Mastermind Simon Cowell fired judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as well as host Steve Jones. Since then, he’s been searching for the perfect panel in hopes of boosting the show’s second-season ratings. Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have both been rumoured to be the ones filling that fourth seat.  I love me some Britney Spears so I’m going to tune in next season for sure. What about you guys??
